The Washington Post published two reports on information that implicates US aid and possibly US officials in the Department of Administrative Security (DAS) intelligence scandal. Investigations continue into the Colombian presidential intelligence agency’s use of illegal wiretapping and surveillance against members of the opposition, human rights defenders and court magistrates. The reports have sparked controversy both in Colombia and the US. The AFP reported on the statement that President Santos made during a visit to Chile at a meeting of the Economic Commission for Latin America, stating that the guerrillas are weakened but not defeated. He also affirmed that the government is willing to talk to the rebel groups if they show signs of peace. The San Francisco Chronicle reports on the recently approved Victims Law and how protection of communities and land leaders seeking to return to their lands is going to be the biggest challenge for the Santos administration. The Associated Press reported on the ambush that killed 5 police officers in the city of Tumaco, in the department of Nariño. The attack was attributed to the FARC. The Washington Post reported on the agreement reached by Congress to move forward with the three pending trade deals with Colombia, Korea and Panama. The deals were held up due to the disagreement between both sides of the aisle on the TAA extension.

El Washington Post publicó dos artículos sobre la presunta participación de dineros y agentes estadounidenses en el escándalo de inteligencia que afecta al Departamento Administrativo de Seguridad (DAS). En Colombia continúan las investigaciones sobre el escándalo de las interceptaciones, que afectó a defensores de derechos humanos, miembros de la oposición y magistrados de las altas Cortes. Los artículos han generado polémica tanto en los Estados Unidos como en Colombia. La AFP hizo referencia al discurso que dió el Presidente Santos en el marco de la reunión de la CEPAL en Chile, en el que afirmó que las guerrillas están debilitadas más no derrotadas. De igual manera el primer mandatario también afirmó que el gobierno mantiene la puerta del diálogo abierta, desde que la guerrilla de muestras de un cese de hostilidades. El San Francisco Chronicle reportó sobre la reciente aprobación de la ley de víctimas y como la efectiva protección de las comunidades y de sus líderes que buscan retornar a sus tierras, será el principal obstáculo para la administración de Santos. La Prensa Asociada divulgó una noticia sobre el ataque en contra de una patrulla de la policía, que dejó como saldo 5 policías muertos. El ataque se le atribuyó a la guerrilla de las FARC. El Washington Post publicó el acuerdo alcanzado por el Congreso de los Estados Unidos para avanzar en la aprobación de los tratados de libre comercio con Colombia, Panamá y Corea. Los tratados se encontraban estacandos como consequencia del desacuerdo con respecto a la extensión del programa de protección para trabajadores americanos.
