Colombia in the US News

CNN reported on the release of Pablo Emilio Moncayo, a Colombian soldier that was kidnapped by the FARC 12 years ago. Pablo Emilio was the longest held soldier by the rebel group. The New York Times reported in March 24th on the car bomb that exploded in the port city of Buenaventura killing six people and wounding 30 more. The attack was attributed to the guerrilla of the FARC and it is believed that the bomb was directed at Buenaventura’s Prosecutor’s Office. The Washington Post published an article on the assassination of Clodomiro Castilla, the editor of el Pulso Monteria’s local newspaper. Mr. Castilla had been denouncing links of local politicians with paramilitary groups. The Associated Press reported on the death of a 12 year-old boy, who died when carrying a bomb destined to reach a police station in El Charco, a small municipality in the Department of Nariño.

Pablo Emilio fué la persona que duró mayor tiempo secuestrado por el grupo guerrillero. El New York Times reportó el pasado 24 de Marzo, sobre el carro bomba que explotó en la ciudad portuaria de Buenaventura que dejó un saldo de 6 personas muertas y 30 heridas. El ataque fue atribuído a la guerrilla de las FARC y se presume que iba dirigido a la Fiscalía seccional de esa ciudad. La muerte de Clodomiro Castilla, editor del periódico el Pulso de la ciudad de Montería, fue reportada por el Washington Post. Según la publicación Castilla venía denunciando los vínculos de algunos políticos de la región con grupos paramilitares. La Associated Press informó sobre la muerte de un menor de 12 años quien murio cuando cargaba una bomba que estaba destinada para la estación de polícia del Charco, un pequeño Municipio del departamento de Nariño.
